  • My Favourite ESL student at the Community College’s first rhyming poem in English

Sitting in this class it’s hard to be heard
undeterred, I stare starstruck at his beard

For my witty tutor, my tender heart does ache
some manly air of his – probably his moustache

My everlasting love for him is so broad
I’d walk forever for him down any road

Through every single word of his to me I sieve
searching for signs of love he’s sending, I believe

That dulcet voice of his I love to hear
& I have never ever heard him swear

I wait with breath all baited till we break
then in a tiny whisper to him I shyly speak

But when he dismisses us all early
that is when I love him most dearly

We’ll go for a romantic walk on the jetty
he’ll look into my eyes & tell me I’m pretty

Out of the blue, beneath a misty rainbow
he’ll kneel down & offer up to me his vow

At last I will have secured my quarry
& my true love & I will then marry

Eventually I’ll present him with a daughter
& our home will be filled with endless laughter

And as he walks barefoot, I’ll watch his toes
For feet as cute as his shows, you don’t need shoes

(Well it is still a first draft)

I often make light of praise, but I can't with this one, so very humbly, thank you...
