  • For All the Others’ Sake

The skies thundered and the moon ran away
She marched with confidence and did not stray
Laquita knew the risk when she walked out
She knew what would be waiting for her there
The beast wanted her soul, she had no doubt
But it was her fate, one she could not share
To protect those she loved, she’d risk it all
She’d fight to the end if she had to fall

    Laquita was a Warrior Empress
Trained to fight the demons that awakened
Her soul and mind resolved, she marched, brazened
She cut through the dark forest with success
Her machete in one hand, she was strong
Axe in the other, it wouldn’t be long

Oh wow, what she’d do to keep the world safe
Risking her life for all the others’ sake
She’d stop at nothing to see the demons all gone
Fighting for her people with no promise of dawn

She was not alone in her fight for good
There were others like her, a sisterhood
But she’d never risk their lives, blood was thick
Death was after them but she’d help them cheat
A zombie rushed her from the shadows quick
She kicked and she slashed not missing a beat
Laquita was good at hunting monsters
It was her destiny, she would conquer

A giant hell beast lunged out of the trees
Laquita dove to the ground, axe ready
She jumped back to her feet and swung steady
She swung her machete and sliced with ease
The beast drop dead and Laquita marched on
Closer to the big boss, she was being drawn

Oh wow, what she’d do to keep the world safe
Risking her life for all the others’ sake
She’d stop at nothing to see the demons all gone
Fighting for her people with no promise of dawn

Laquita strutted into the temple, alluring
Her lack of fear, no longer assuring
She walked the torch lit halls, skulls and bones covering the walls
Yet there were no signs of death, not even its cold, icy breath
Death wanted nothing to do with that place
Refusing to even show its timeless face
The beast she was searching for jumped out of the dark
His bright red eyes gazing from his rotting gray face, stark
And for the first time she was afraid, afraid of failing her friends
She did it for the youth; she did it for her people, all for her friends

Skeletons, zombies, vampires, and werewolves all waited for the word
Their big boss compelling them to stay back, not a single one stirred
Then the beast sprinted toward her and she threw her axe
She chopped off its hand but it bought no time to relax
The monster was in the air, ready to pounce
Laquita was clear of fear, except for an ounce
The beast swung its arm and threw her against the wall
Ready to kill, it stood over her, Laquita wasn’t ready to fall
It prepared to chomp down and devour her body and soul
Then it shrieked in pain and fear, Laquita’s heart became whole

Her friends came, weapons and spirits, ready to slay
The temple was filled with minions of the beast
Swords and claws clashing all around, metal and shrieks were the only sounds
The boss began to retreat, his mission incomplete
Laquita jumped up, the boss was not gonna get away
She severed his head with much ease to say the least
Her community of warriors was there to help her fight
And the temple was reclaimed by the end of the night

Oh wow, what she’d do to keep the world safe
Risking her life for all the others’ sake
She’d stop at nothing to see the demons all gone
Because she had a community, love so strong
    For All the Others' Sake
