  • Changing Times

The butcher, the baker, the candlestick maker
Are all now working at Walmart

    Mary had a little lamb
But she traded it for an ipad

Humpty Dumpty sat on the wall
That was built to keep foreigners out

There were 10 in a bed and the little one said
« If only we had cheaper healthcare »

Jack and Jill went up the hill
Fell down and sued their parents

The wheels on the bus go round and round
    Less and less each day

If you're happy and you know it
    Take a selfie
    Post it online
    For us all to see

PapaJames, I like Changing Times very much indeed! I appreciate its truth and its humor! Thank you! Monica

This is very clever, PapaJames, and topical. I love the nursery rhyme references, and want to personally thank you for not including Barney, the purple dinosaur, in this cute, charming, yet barbed poem.

Split in the gut when the parents got sued! And as for the "selfie", I must plead guilty; but I like that you saved it for last! Generally speaking -- you killed me! -- I got a few great laughs -- and packed in such a short piece! And honestly, I could hardly wait for each next line! Incidentally, I wanted to "Like" it TWICE because I read it aloud to my friend --same response! Thanks! And keep up the awesome work, keeping an accurate perspective on society from the humorous standpoint. Are we not such funny creatures! I'd like to see more of this kind of poetry!
