  • Luna🐈

She came right before a winter storm,
    sitting on my window sill,*
    looking for a home.

    Outside I went,*
    hoping she wouldn't run away.
    Luna didn't.*
    She stayed.

In my arms, I carried her in.
Silly me! She was already in.
    I didn't realized it then
    when I brought her in.

    From my arms,*
she went straight into my heart.
    There she curled up,
    purring, "I'm home."

There she has stayed till this day
even though she has passed away.
She is still curled up in my heart,
purring, "I made your heart my home."

Stray cats, hard to resist and always lunar -- Greek mythology: Ailuros and Yeates: Minnaloushe. Enjoyed your take on the cat and moon greatly.

As much as I like greek mythology, this poem is autobiographical, I wrote it when my cat Luna died. She was indeed a stray cat that would have died in the winter storm. Having her in my life was one of life's precious gift.

Oh, your poem brought a tear to my eye. I also had a cat named Luna. I miss her.

Just remember that your cat is still curled up in your heart.
