    A Little Kindness

When you see someone in distress,
    don’t look the other way.
Find out what the problem is
    and offer help today.

Did you see the homeless person,
    cold, hungry and looking beat?
Offer a blanket, a little of your time
and give them a meal to eat.

Your neighbors have to leave their pets.
    There’s a sudden emergency.
Offer to feed and take them out,
How much trouble can that be?

Is there a shut-in who needs some help,
perhaps errands that need to be run?
    Maybe they need some assistance
    to get some housework done.

    Someday you could need someone,
to help when you’re in a bind.
You will need to rely on others
    to be compassionate and kind.

You can’t fix the whole planet.
    That’s an impossibility.
But you can try to do your best
    for your own community.

Love it. A simple, practical, yet esoteric notion to solve the world's problems.

I want to add my own voice to the chorus of those applauding your poem A Little Kindness, contsil! Excellent, well-worded, persuasive, and so true! We have to start in little ways to help one another -- now! Monica

I love your poem. One kind deed followed by another. Perhaps it will rub off on others. We will all need help at some time. Your poem hit me as pure.
