  • Imagine if the Oceans were filled with Soup

Imagine if the Oceans were filled with soup.
If Lakes and Rivers were made from cranberry juice.
If planes and cars were fueled by coffee.
And in order to live, we put gasoline in our body!
Imagine electricity works on apple pies
and everyone’s pillow was made from french fries.
    Socks were marshmallows and shoes were potatoes;
flowers were donuts and clouds were tomatoes.
Every day would be like a dream.
You could brush your teeth with ice cream!
You could wash your hands with orange juice
Bathe in milk while reading Dr. Seuss.
You can dance in the rain and be care free
but instead of water it was pouring iced tea!
Monkeys could talk and tell time with clocks.
Horses can sing and they even have wings!
They can fly through the sky across the whole planet
and all the world’s trees were made from pomegranates!

Imagine a world where you can’t imagine...
It would be a world completely abandoned.

Imagine a world without this poem. No I can't, it wouldn't be as much fun.

Imagine if the Oceans were Filled with Soup is not only fun, but charming, Joosher. I think you're right: A world without the joys of imagination would indeed be abandoned. Monica

I love this poem. It is more vivid than most of my dreams. I smiled the whole way wading through grapefruit juice.
And, I can not imagine a world where you can't imagine. Makes life fun in all of it's serious troubles.

The line "and in order to live, we put gasoline in our body!" really throws me off, after reading this I expect to be hit with more...not as joyful matterial, lines that symbolize how humans are destroying the very creation that created it, but instead I see more fun. Which really makes the mood of the poem joyful, and a sense to be original after reading it. I would like to hear more about that fourth line and why you added it there, but overall great work

Hi Ian... I appreciate the comment and the kind words! 'If planes and cars were fueled by coffee. And in order to live, we put gasoline in our body' This is simply a play on our bodies as machines requiring fuel. Considering the concept is community, I wanted to unite us with imagination and joy rather than untangling the corrupt web of global malnutrition and health. My children's book series 'Joosh's Juice Bar' instills healthy eating habits to kids and I'm a firm believer in food as medicine. You have inspired me to jot ideas on using this whimsical style to deliver a powerful message on this matter. Thank you! Cheers

I loved this! I shouldn't compare because it's so original but it gave me the feelings of a beatles song or the movie willy wonka and the chocolate factory. It really made me smile literally.
