A Maze

On a cold winter night
snuggled and cuddled
together we lie
in their bed
two grands and I.
Ena and I at the head
with Bradley rolled
in a quilt, at the foot.
Before we slept, I told
them how proud I was,
how I loved them,
just because.
As we dreamt and slept,
our legs became intertwined.
My promise kept
to sleep with them
in a maze of legs.
An ultimate, delightful gem
descended softly into my heart
and soul: family is what
keeps life from falling apart.
