  • A Race for Equality

A difference between us is hard to figure out.
Your father, my father, both failed to pull out.
We grow up in separate, single mother homes,
Living similar lives – something like clones.
Kindergarten through post-secondary, our lives begin to transpire.
Little do I know, but I will become the more difficult hire.
Our grades were similar, our extracurricular activities were alike.
Did I mention that I too provide my company with an operational spike?
But there’s something I’m missing because I haven’t received your same promotion.
Maybe it’s because I go through ten times the motion.
My back is weary from all that I must endure.
Equal and fair treatment for all is what I implore.
