Smoke And Mirrors
I put on my mask
Artfully dodging the extremely personal questions I'm asked
Everyone just keeps on trying but they can't seem to get past
My six inches of glass
They know that I'm strong
Always believing I can't bleed, I can't let them see that they're wrong
So I press on and keep fighting until all of their dangers are gone
Then I bleed on my own
But you see it all
Into the darkness when night falls
When I have no voice you hear my calls
When I'm silently screaming in pain
You're not fooled by
My smoke and mirrors you see right
Into my soul in through my eyes
Past all the hurt and the game
You bring so many things to my life
Too many to name
You mean more than the words of this poem could explain
And one day since you've given your all
I'll give you my last name
I put on my mask
Artfully dodging the extremely personal questions I'm asked
Everyone just keeps on trying but they can't seem to get past
My six inches of glass
They know that I'm strong
Always believing I can't bleed, I can't let them see that they're wrong
So I press on and keep fighting until all of their dangers are gone
Then I bleed on my own
But you see it all
Into the darkness when night falls
When I have no voice you hear my calls
When I'm silently screaming in pain
You're not fooled by
My smoke and mirrors you see right
Into my soul in through my eyes
Past all the hurt and the game
You bring so many things to my life
Too many to name
You mean more than the words of this poem could explain
And one day since you've given your all
I'll give you my last name
