  • A Personal Billet-Doux

    My yesteryear amour,
    Remember our subway rendezvous?
We were star-crossed lovers at best,
    Deft stargazers at twinkling irises,
    Exchanging drugless amphetamine rushes
    Through ephemeral artistic touches,
And gazes of flower yearning for sun –
    More illegal than unpaid internships.
    We were one.

    My yesteryear amour,
Remember the time of shattered sight?
We became enemies to the dawn of day,
Broken angels without a saving grace
As relations became a vile whorl
    With tension like a spring recoiled;
    Our love – estranged – like a hit-and-run
    From the departed morning train.
    Je suis désolé.
    We are none.

Thanks! I actually took a hiatus from poetry, so your comment is quite refreshing to hear!
