    Faces, faces--everywhere;
    But do we see them as people or even care?

    Passing by the man humming his song,
    Is he truly happy or is something wrong?

    The outer mask is all we see,
    Not who they really are or want to be.

    Never view more than the fake front.
    Never glimpse the longing or the want.

    A blanket covers to disguise fears,
    Hiding all the sorrows and tears.

    Many wear a meaningless smile,
    But it's only for show and lasts just a short while.

    So next time you rush past that man on the sidewalk,
    What will you do--move on or talk?
