Pure Alcohol
Elizabeth Pridgen
I stand alone waiting for my ride home.
But I turn my back, noticing a dome.
I see people drinking pure alcohol through the windows.
Now I wish I could rest on my pillow…
The people get violent over pure alcohol.
Now I wish I could hit them with a cannonball;
Just to wake up their intoxicated brains.
But too bad their stuck to a chain;
A chain made of pure alcohol.
It’s like everyone’s an animal.
Over what? Pure alcohol.
Now I wish I had my basketball
