"You Don't Know Me"

You don’t know me
You’ve never heard my name
You’ve never even seen my face
Yet once we shared the very same space

In this great big world
are so many other people
in many other times and places
I wandered somehow from my race

While most the world slept
Both of us were wide-awake
I’m not even sure how I got there
Way off in a distant land out of thin air

Though you never even knew
I read about your heartrending story
I was like a quiet fly resting on your wall
An unknown spy sent to see your distress call

You felt abandoned and all alone
I sat with you and we cried together
Though I suppose it was not for you to know
Only for me to understand; something I needed shown?

Proving even in our loneliest times
When we are sad and all hope feels gone
Our dear Father feels our tears rolling out
Understanding all our pain there is no doubt

Angels must have led me to you
In the still dark cover of the night
There I would pray as your covert friend
as you reached what you thought the bitter end

You don’t know me
You’ve never heard my name
You’ve never even seen my face
Yet once we shared the very same space
