I was born last year
To a mom and a dad
Who seem to be nice,
But they’re listening’s bad.
I tell them what I need –
And I’m perfectly clear.
But mom and dad act
Like they can’t even hear.
When I point and I talk
They seem to understand,
But then they bring the wrong thing
Or just wipe off my hand.
When they ask a question
I respond right away,
But if I ask one of them
They seem confused all day.
The one thing I’ve noticed
Is they seem to be new.
So perhaps they’re still learning
What to say and to do.
So I’ll keep them around.
I can tell they’re trying.
And they do give good hugs
When I’m sad or crying.
