KNEW-IT-ALL
The smartest guy I ever knew was me,
But that was back when I was in my teens.
I wondered why my teachers couldn't see
That I'd been gifted with some genius genes.
The problems in the world did not seem large,
Though much too tough for leaders of the day.
I thought if they would just put me in charge,
I'd quickly make those troubles go away.
But all that brilliance faded through the years,
Despite great lessons learned along the way.
I'm still an expert after several beers,
But mostly I've grown dumber day by day.
It's only when you've really learned a lot,
You start to realize how smart you're NOT.
