So I knew this young woman.
She was of a particular taste.
A candid free spirit, strong and independent,
Confidence in her eyes and mystery on her face.
She was strong and beautiful,
Classy and sophisticated.
But she lived in a society
still married to a senseless thought that originated
Centuries before she was even a distant thought.
She was fighting a war that technically can't be fought
Because of something that was missing between her legs
Because of something that visited her every month
Because her counterparts had already won
The victorious song of her patriarch savior and purity had already been sung
But anyway, getting back to the tale.
Point is, this young lady had strong sexual desire
They say she had "too many lovers for a female"
But she liked to be touched
She liked the excitement, the pleasure
She wasn't ready to be tied down
Went from lover to lover
It was there in those unmade beds that she found her treasure
But because she was a woman, her conquests were measured
Counted and marked
And if males and females were both marked by each lover
Males would bear noble tattoos from each encounter and wear them proudly each day
While women would have ugly shameful scars they would have to hide away.
She wasn't a disgrace to society, a harlot or sexual fiend.
Sad that society's still stripped her of dignity which once gone can't be redeemed.
Pitiful that if the tables were turned and if she was a male
This would poem would be an ode of praise to man, not a shameful tale
But it doesn't have to be,
Because if you ask me,
I'd happily support this woman's choices living a life of proud sexual rhapsody
I hope the world can someday understand
the double standards of sex placed upon a woman, versus a man.
This woman was good and true to herself
So at last,
Please,
Won't you stop trying to stifle her libido
Unless you repress that of the males
This woman has not failed,
Society has failed.
I hope she still loves and respects herself and that inner peace prevails.
I hear she went on to march topless
Her grievances scribbled on her torso telling of her sexual prowess
to fight for sexual expression, equality and freedom for females.
