  • City Skyline: A Sonnet

    The lights, tall, stand against the sky;
    Is this the calling of the dark?
    To say to one “You live and die,
    Come taste the burn of glowing spark!”
    And from this gaping view of nothingness
    Is all now seen in disarray. A vast,
    Yet simple, everflowing stress
    To sever ancient walls of glass.
    But all is naught to crack to curse
    And this of lamp and shade to break:
    The wounds are growing worse and worse.
    Our worlds in one great shudder shake;
    Perhaps this is an end to all,
    Despite the power of large and small.
