Mediterranean winds are warm and fresh,
Temples of Greece are shaken with regret,
For greedy bankers desire pounds of flesh,
And centuries of cheap labor for their debt.
The IMF, the world’s financial source,
Hold’s Cicero’s fiddle gayly played,
And their loan is but a Trojan horse,
For Shylock demands high interest is paid!
The Gorgons don a Greek mask of sorrow
And their kind generosity exalt;
The wise soothsayer cries not to borrow-
It’s better for the nation to default!
Better for the nation to default!?
Greece will be financially terrorized,
As people fall from chieftain to chattel;
The nation’s labor, all privatized-
Lest Hercules herd the Wall Street cattle!
The Greek curtain arises without applause
The roaring auditorium is full;
They pray Hercules would fight for the cause,
And slaughter the banking, Cretan bull.
