Mindful eater

Never gulping down
a piece of loaf while
cozily lying down,
for there will be big
consequences around
with an involuntary hic,
and a curious sound;
these harmless little
rebels of breath
Can be an
embrace of death
from a simple hasty bite,
bringing a sudden jolt,
and spasms of revolt;
Now, I make sure
to chew right,
with utmost care.

a warning I can get behind,

have a Heimlich near at hand

for teeth don't always understand

their role in life is a daily grind
