    A happy ending

He died on foreign soil of septicemia
She was killed in a raid by exploding bombs
Though Their love was slandered by the media
Wrongly accused of rape, he was a pawn

Their true love deserved a better ending
Than this sad filled life that brought hopelessness
So the author wrote them a happy ending
In a book penned with such grace and hopefulness

Their lives edited and much romanticized
Captured many hearts of young and old alike
Belied the sad truth she rationalized
Giving them in death the happiness they deserved

    Your post provoked
    A response in me,
And a post of my own,
    As you might see. Still
    I wonder the biography,
    Whose lives were
    Those refereed?

It was a sad romantic movie I watched and it inspired this poem in me.

blood poisoning and bombs... rhyming something with septicemia was sheer genius. very nice.
