  • Bullet Bravado

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to everyone . Here is my last poem of the year and I sure had a "blast " in writing it . I know I'll be scrutinized by all the " gun lovers " for this one
but they can come up with their own poem , Enjoy

    Bullet Bravado ( c ) Glen Mitton 2022
-T he Cartridge Family - Come On Get Happy

Today with my rhyme , I would like to first honor Jean Samuel Pauly *
    The original patented patron of the " Gun Cartridge " ( 1812 ) , with a " volley "
Whether you think this is a good thing or you are in denial , he invented the
Very first " self contained "round " , containing primer powder and projectile
Second is the inventor , Clement Pottet ** , the " Father of the Shotgun " (1829 )
Hitting it out of the park with his updated version of said " cartridge " home run !
    In this imaginary " Match " of " 5 card draw " , the " cartridges " are all " metal "
Of which Louis-Nicholas Flobert *** gets the credit ( 1845 ) and history is settled

    The deal is dealt :

    I'll see your " Flobert cartridge " and raise you a . .22 short
At least it has a few grains of gun powder in it , old sport !
I'll see your .22 short and raise you a . 22 Long Rifle
A favorite down on the farm , ever since it's arrival !
I'll see your .22 LR and raise you a .22 magnum
Just another therefore , and a notable then some !
    I'll see your .22magnum and raise you a .25
Reaching into my brand new leather ammo bag

    I'll see your .25 and raise you a , handsome .32
    I don't have many , but I do have a few !
I'll see your .32 and raise you a delightful .380
That perfect " caliber " for all the ladies !
    I'll see that .380 and raise you a . 38 Special
They're in my " caisson " , the boxes are labeled
I'll see your .38 special and raise you a .357
Adding to the ante , my uncle's magnum !

In this " duel " of " dualism " it just gets sweeter
    I'll see your 9x19 parabellum , and raise you a 10mm
I'll see that 10mm and raise you a .45 ACP
The" side arm " ammunition that helped US be free !
    However , I'll see your .45ACP and raise you a .44 Mag
    Why ? , " Because it's what Dirty Harry had " !
    Okay , I'll see that .44Mag and raise you a .50 caliber
That's a 1/2 inch of lead in dia. , and that is spectacular !

Let us not forget what the Almighty " Range Master " said
Evil is " locked and loaded " and is purposely being , " belt fed "
    It isn't " automatic " , you have to " chamber " it yourself , and
That " trigger pull " my friend , belongs to you and no one else
We are being " choked " , as Their " Blunderbuss " is bolstered
When it's openly" suppressed" and not properly " holstered "
Letting the " flying brass " fly , wherever and with no regrets
As long as They get to " call the shots " and pick Their targets !

Everybody and Grandma knows , bullets aren't Rocket Science
Especially when they're used by others to , maliciously silence
As " revolvers " and solvers " spotting " the " inaccuracies " of the day
The ill " windage " and the " elevation " of evil comes into play !
It's a Win for Chester and all of US , by the " leveraged-action " we take
By NOT going off " half cocked " , and shooting ourselves in the foot by mistake
So keep your " cross-hairs " on the Truth and Love "
Because , when it comes to push and shove

The best " bravado " one can have hanging on one's belt
Is the Benevolence you can " wield " and that which can be felt !
    In " reloading " this poem , I sure had a " ball "
So with that being said , I'm all in and I call " !
