  • All in its Season

    The countryside now faced brown
Bespeaks to all of ripened corn
Excepting ears that still hold green
In homage to Auld Ireland's meme
And so we sweat, unready for
    A day when rainbows end
And furze takes it bow in fire

I spoke with an aunt (local to me) yesterday about this. We, too, have begun the annual browning of the ground. My father, grandfather, and many relatives are/were farmers. It takes great faith in God and untiring perseverance to trust in hope of new life when all signs point the other direction.

Thanks Alex. In Britain harvest is two weeks earlier than normal this year.

The Emerald Isle a tad brown and the furze ablaze. Such heat - front page headlines. A poem near too hot to handle. Excellent!
        All the best,
        Tony.
