I SWALLOW SUMMER
SUMMER SWALLOWS ME
Now that this day is over
My body below me complex
Turbine of earth holds me closer
Being turned away by the sun
A canopy of clouds lit
Half the moon shines above
The pedals of the Lilies have fallen
Roses blush against the Maple stem
In a tempering of present time
The colors of light parade gray
Precious parcels of land
Like chameleons, they change
Jewel cases for fireflies
Reflecting flying things wings
Dark pits for the orchestra of night
A digestion for hallowed thought
Mysteries weep in the nocturnal realm
Aromas steeped in a midnight summer tea
Like that of the cycle of life
I drink to excess and fall
Hopefully and peacefully into eternity
