    Frightful land - Alzheimer’s

afraid, I’m Lost in all my yesterdays
The nights are quiet full of strange shadows
once stable life turned into frightful land
Oh no, Where did I leave my wedding band?

Take me, I need to go see my mother
Are you sure she’s been gone 16 years now?
Please, She must be so worried about me
I need to check on my house, where’s my key?

Mama, it’s ok, you’re safe here with us
I’m your daughter and you are in our home
We’ll take good care of you, we love you so
See, we’re together in this family photo

ATL, Brilliant! Perfectly captured. My mother-in-law died at 95 and unfortunately spent the last few years of her life in that "frightful land" you describe. I saw her emaciated state a few hours before she died, and it was not a pleasant sight.

If I had read this before I wrote "Once"
        my words would have curdled.
        Painfully brilliant.

Thank you very much JT. I’m living this now and it’s very painful to watch my loving brilliant mother deteriorate.

Cnveys this so well--made it look easy but only because you have the talent to do so
