Comfort foods

there’s burgers and noodles and fries
there’s pasta and ramen in disguise
cakes and crumpets follow all in line
cookies gathered beautiful by design
chocolate chips and mac and cheese
ice cream slightly melted after a freeze

then if you’re up for a special treat
make something really sweet
if you’re up for a challenge * don't cower*
make noodles but make them really sour
if you want jerky but not to bother and pay
make some at home your own new way'

cooking can be comfort or could be a fear
but the food you make you should hold near
it shows your feeling its more than a vent
because you can eat it and maybe pay rent
as a good friend showed me a while ago
cooking is a vent a hobby and also a show

Cooking doesn’t have to be showy or bright
the flavor doesn’t always have to be right
over time you have recipes that shows you grow
as a person sometimes the road is slow
and when the roads both slow and crude
then you get to make your comfort food

Note/Question: Why am I even a little proud of this?

This made me hungry! lol Overall it is a good poem. It moves well, stays on topic and it is fun to read. There are a few rhymes that feel a bit forced to me though. But that is hard to avoid in a poem with that kind of rhyming scheme.
