  • Blind Hope

    When Hope's last ray has flitted by,
    And dreams unsoured wither away;
    When, with undimmed eyes, a bleak dawn,
    They must behold - not through the blinds
    Of longings, wistful and unvoiced,
    Nor through the shadowed mists of time
    That offer gleams of sickly sweet
    Tomorrows; when Tomorrow comes,
    At long last, to lay its cold grip
    Upon them and banish all doubt
    That she, from whom sprung Hope's thin threads
    To bind and stitch their shredded dreams,
    Is gone ever more; only then,
    And not before, shall they without
    Her, brave the day, grieved and alone.

      Powerfully poignant Raoul D'Harmental. Words and vision both.
