    A Million’s Not So Many

    A million’s not so many, when:
    we start by counting one to ten.
    After ten, go straight to twenty;
    counting tens saves time a’ plenty.

    At one hundred, skip the tens;
    count by hundreds ten again.
    Ten of those, one thousand makes;
    ten thousand, ten of those it takes.

    By tens, those thousands quickly pass;
    one hundred thousand adds up fast.
    That’s one of ten again, then two;
    count to ten—we’re almost through.

    These thousands by the hundreds mount—
    until nine hundred thousand count.
    After that, a million’s done;
    and then it comes: a million one.

      Thanks, GaspyTheBean. Fun to count to a million (by tens) with the younger children. It goes pretty fast!
