    Labyrinth

    Trusting life to untwined thread

and stealthy foot in muffled tread

as nameless fear but drained the blood

so pommeled sword pierced fated dread

when left and right the turnings led

    to where the monster waited.

    And the witch Ariadne?

    What of she?

    Abandoned

    to island exile,

    betrayer by love betrayed.

    Driving home,
listening to a BBC Radio 4 piece
    by Claire Balding "Ramblings"
    describing
    Up to the labyrinth
    on St Catherine's Hill, Winchester
    led to this

this looks, the construction, like a cup!--
this piece makes me curious. like 'everything wheeling after the crime', kind of feel, too.

Really cool. Awesome language use and colorful words! I'll have to learn about Ariadne. Thanks for sharing.

This is the Greek myth of Theseus and the Minotaur
Persuaded of love, Ariadne gave Theseus a ball of thread to find his way back
out of the maze after slaying her half-brother,the half-bull, half-man Minotaur
she fled to Naxos with Theseus where he abandoned her.
