    SINGING BIRDS

    Follow me you singing birds
Your babies have much to say
If they hadn’t ate the word
I would stay around to pray
If they really knew the past
    They would surely fly away
To where fireflies go to bed
They seem to have settled in The Oak
    Several in the Maple
    Beautiful story told
    Summer Eve
    July unfolds
What are you going to do - cancel me?
What are you going to do – get rid of me?
What are you going to do -deliver me?
What are you going to do -render me?
    I love the world
    I love this place
    Big ball of rock covered
    Water floating in space
What are you going to do -render me?
What are you going to do -deliver me?
What are you going to do -sentence me?
To a life I do not own
What are you going to do- cover me?
Where are you going to go? - Endlessly
What do you know? – Not a thing
What are you going to do singing bird?
    Love me

Bird song - one of God's great gifts of creation. This summer, heading into fall, it seemed all of the birds disappeared from the farm and surrounding trees for a period of several weeks. I was at a loss (being new to living in the country) to understand why. The silence was striking - in a way I'd never imagined it could be.

They and their soundings returned, thankfully, around late October.

Though it's winter in my area of the world and we spend more time indoors, I find myself much more in tune, and attentive, to their song. Perhaps I'm learning, at last, to really listen.

This is beautiful TS - thank you.
