    Name That Tune

    I have a clever husband

    who likes to play this trick;

he whistles tunes behind my back

to see if they will stick.

Then once I start in singing

    his seeded melody,

he strolls away with cheesy grin

    because he got to me.

    At first it was annoying,

but now, if truth be told,

    his happiness in teasing me

is worth its weight in gold.

      Ear worm. Ear worm.
      Whistling a melody.
      You and your fool trickery
      will probably go far.
With apologies to Danny Kaye’s “Inchworm”

Nice idea and response to the prompt, RLW!

Well, now I"m going to have to go and look that up...because I can't recall that particular song. Thanks for the tip!

We should all at some time in our lives be so fortunate as to have someone sing for us. It sounds like you might have your own "diamond in the leaves".

      * Many thanks to BobGrantKC, whose phrase I have borrowed, and not for the last time, either.

Oh indeed Poldy - great line to describe exactly how things are. Bob and I have a lot in common in that regard!

"Velcro songs" is a very apt moniker indeed! Another Poet, Sally Jadlow, shared the link on FB, and I am happy to pass it along!
