Photographer and Poetry Collaborations
This photo by Veronica Yacono is so epic
I had to write a poem to accompany it
Veronica, I hope in some small way I did your photo justice. Thank you for graciously allowing to share.
Veronica Yacono’s
Lady Liberty
Lady Liberty's Golden Hour
won’t turn her back on immigrant calls
Lighting the way- her eyes do scour-at her feet the needy will fall
Give me your tired, your poor- huddled masses yearning to be free
Sail upon my distant shore
you can lean on me
As the setting sun lights my torch
Gold tones I'm in my glory
Adorning Hudson River's porch
reminder of ancestral stories
I stand before you- a welcome sight-
symbol of hope and freedom
As each new day turns into night
I welcome you to my kingdom
