  • Waiting, Hoping, Praying, Living

Waiting, waiting, waiting for so long,
Have not slept well since you’ve been gone,
It chilled my heart to hear you say,
I don’t know how long I’ll be away.

Hoping, hoping, hoping for the day,
When you are home at last to stay,
I’m proud of you and that you care,
For what free people hold very dear.

Praying, praying, praying all the time,
That all of you in war’s hard grind,
Feel the love of those here at home,
    Planning our heroes return welcome.

Living, living, living for that day,
War is over and you can play,
In sandboxes with kids at home,
Not pounding the sands of distant lands.

Come home to a love that binds,
And is not broken by war’s alarms,
Our love is strong and you will find,
Me waiting for you with open arms.

A life of service is to be commended...mostly for those who actively serve, but also for those who support and stay behind, awaiting a return.
