Johntee ha ha ha. Hang on Sloopy, Sloopy hang on. Over here in the Catskill Mountains of NY, we are about to get pounded with the white fluffy stuff. The new leaves 🍁 will still be in hiding for a while.

amenOra, thank you for the intricate and comprehensive analysis. Characteristic of
yourself. Much appreciated and happy you enjoyed.

It is interesting how you used the refrain with the meanings of 'leave' and that was what I noticed, as well as the second to last stanza actually leaving that out. The last leaf, nature surviving. Cool rhymes too, with the vibe characteristic of yourself! I like the tone and feeling of this poetry!

RhymeLovingWriter thank you Paula. It’s actually a Red Maple. A mother’s day gift to my wife. The Tree the leaf and my wife, significantly all strong women and survivors. 🍁🍃

started a topic The Last Leaf

    The Last Leaf

    Photography and Poetry Collaborations

    The Last Leaf

Standing alone through wind and rain
for seven months she still remains
While others flew with autumn breeze
she clung to life the last of leaves

    Changing colors with the seasons
seven months she has her reasons
Determined to live her life in full
the last to leave through push and pull

Strength and stamina throughout her life
    surviving drought and pruning knife
    Bending with adverse conditions
    fending off nature’s ambitions

Here she stands while others have flown
    refusing flight to great unknown
Bending roots through test of time
the last to leave still in her prime
