    Wandering Soul

    As in a dream irresolute

carried to the edge unwilled feet

step by step reach the test of sleep

    waken or in delusion leap

and sail ensouled the southern waste

    lonely wandering albatross

It came out of a conversation on radio between a psychiatrist and a sufferer describing a delusion, occurring while already in depression, from lack of feeling of being dead and the terror of becoming a wandering soul. The delusion was broken by the sensation of a friend's hand touching hers while driving. Touch is becoming a lost sense in modern interpersonal relationships.

A beautiful sounding piece - and interesting inspiration. Thanks for filling in some back story - it makes it even more interesting.

Thanks for the read. I found the original interview wouldn't leave me in peace till I wrote something.
