    Commitment

    Trapeze flying without a net

    hands outstretched, spangled, spotlit.

How much would you commit? A life

for love might seem as price enough

but comes a child, horizons change,

a once free future falls estranged

while ageing youth inflates the cost

to add to fear's account of loss

yet from the vantage point of time

claims the sum well-spent all the same

when, children gone as years entwine,

just two alone embrace their home.

This is powerful, and the imagery at the start is perfect!

      Thanks LG
      once i'd written this
I found I could summarize it
in three lines as Long Distance Love story

A beautifully told burst of wisdom, Johntee. I love the use of near-rhyme / consonance at the line-ends.
