    Conspicuous Consumption

We may not look upon the sun unblinded

nor doubt the tales told by power

but fall in line with the thread unwinding

to face the beast that awaits the hour.

In wending walls the senses binding,

    from stygian gloom confounding fear,

black sails will carry a message homeward

of the failure to kill the desire to devour.

Awesome, a delight to read this share from you.
It's quite inspiring, and all of it works together well to produce ...
Some change in me beyond words!

      Thanks Alex. It's an outflow
      from the mindset Grant's

Black sails ... hmm, legend of Theseus? Quite prophetic, this one. I like the rhyme scheme, the use of near-rhyme within it, and the assonance. Very skilfully wrought, Johntee.

    back -- we never cut
    compelled full-throttle onward
    midst indulgenced glee

    'til -- consumered glut
    razed clear, as conscience laundered,
    brings us to a knee

Concur with all above. Really enjoyed this piece!
