    Where Now

    Where now

    the cities of the plain,

    their sins,

    the sins of man,

    of unreflective arrogance,

    their seed as many

    as grains of sand,

    an unconsidered harvest

    to curl and crisp

    in nature's furnace.

The globe's hot flush hath heated thee
    to prophet-and-chef, Jokanaan-tee.
Sodom in the pot with teeming scree
    of Abram's hope maketh fricassee.

      With your definition
      I see you are able
      for chapter and verse
      from the King James' Bible

i likes. So are the last three lines, then, the 'answer' to the title question? Interesting, and quite beautiful! It reminds me of vineyard grapes, and this passage from Shelley's Defence of Poetry.
"Hence the vanity of translation; it were as wise to cast a violet into a crucible that you might discover the formal principle of its color and odor, as seek to transfuse from one language into another the creations of a poet. The plant must spring again from its seed, or it will bear no flower—and this is the burden of the curse of Babel."

I'm old enough to be happy
      that the titular question
      is academic for me.

My comment on Grant's Side Mirror
      would fit here too.

      The message on the mirror
      things may be closer
      than they appear
      we only dream
      of flight's freedom.

      Those among others.
What is not abnormal for California
is hitting unexpected areas like Sweden
up into the Arctic Circle where they
are equipped for snow but not fire
