    That's a great question. I never thought to check. I remember reading that he did want to publish it.. I'm overly romantic about the subject. I see the business of publishing, recognizing and awarding, at real odds with the creative process. I know there are fine first rates poets who can do both. I'm jealous of such intellects.

    How soon after he wrote it, did he drown?

    Published after his lifetime. "Unacknowledged" is important.

    Where does that leave
    Shelley's tirade in
    "Mask of Anarchy"

    "I met Murder on the way -
    He had a mask like Castlereagh -
    Very smooth he looked, yet grim;
    Seven blood-hounds followed him:"

    I agree with the statement, but it's incomplete. Poets who seek to be legislators stop being poets.

    RZ Poets, "If poets are the unacknowledged legislators of the world", it is high time to show our patriotism and take back the country and restore sanity to the USA.
