  • Day's End

    Absent-minded the railroad tracks
    Are going home
    The low sky
Opens with its twilight rack of fire

    Somewhere a whale drifts
In the smoky light a formidable presence
    Near the shadow of shoals
    Like electricity
    The small fish flow
Toward the lightship of its mouth

Near a trough of clouds I dreamed
    I entered your body
The firm shoulder of land where
    Three dark horses
    Graze in the wind
Swaying in the shadows of corn
Waiting to be touched and collected

Another wonderful write Tanner. That last stanza particularly gets me - as I'm currently down on the farm. Beautiful imagery. Thank you.
