Poetry is the ability to fill out each moment with a past present future gauge. But usually we miss one of the three or a combination. What am I saying?
Well, it made for good poetry!

AmenOra, Today I suddenly remembered a late night phone call from many many years ago to a "hoped to be" girlfriend, which did not pan out, so to speak.

I enjoyed the effect the assonance made with the ending, like O-o-o... dial-tone!

From the curled
Black contraption he
Heard her say "I haven't
Been avoiding you" as
That voice disappeared
Down his ear hole
He stood deaf and
Almost blind while
Outside silence echoed
Past the moon also
Vacant like his telephone
