  • The Snowman Wept

    The snowman wept
    beneath the sun
    He could accept
    his time was done
    But how he felt
    during his melt
    was, well, like hell

Thanks, Parkinsonspoet! Though for me it’s more of an addiction. I had it under control (at least publicly) until RhymeLovingWriter and MHenry responded in kind to my ‘A Wintry Mix’ poem. I seem be having a relapse since then. :-)

Thanks, AtL! I had the first line first, and decided it shouldn’t be an outright silly ha’sonnet, even though ha’sonnets are where I’m stuck at the moment. I’m quite happy with how it came out.

        No wishy wash
        could ever fade
        the joy; or squash
        this melt parade
        beyond the lift
        of 'Snowman Gift".
        So blue he's through.

You can tell me to stop anytime Muttado1sb - if I'm making things worse.

Nice one, RLW! You are making things better, not worse. :-) 'Cause I can stop anytime I want. I can. Really.

        this carrot nose
        these eyes of coal
        devoid of clothes
        bereft of soul
        and comes the spring
        when robin's sing
        I'll [simply] fade away

            Love your's so much Muttado1sb I thought I'd have a go

            You're cold to touch
            Yet warm the heart
            Your silence speaks
            A work of art
            Sent here to still
            Pause, slow and thrill
            We felt you melt

              When north winds blow
              Some chilly morn'
              With falling snow
              Shall I be born
              Though lacking voice
              I will rejoice
              This fleeting treat

                And we shall fair
                await return,
                through spring-form tare
                and summer's burn.
                When drifts align
                to fall's resign...
                Rolled man re-stands!

                  In winter sun
                  Reduced to slush
                  A puddle of tears
                  Don't cry now hush
                  Fading yet no pain
                  I will return again
                  You know as snow

                    While others hide
                    From hail and sleet
                    I must abide
                    The springtime heat
                    When buds appear
                    Alas, I fear
                    My frost is lost
