    HOW’D YOU GET LIKE THAT

    How’d you get like that?
    Sleek and slow and phat
    Growling and scowling with ax
Wise sly Fox, Wolf, Coyote, Killer cat
You slither away vague and gray
    Even on the brightest day
    A razor’s edge of black
    Hard steel you pack
    Your mind a ruined room
    Hot cramped display
    Leather rips into the back
    Long look upon your face
    Stiff drink in hand
    You’re ready to debase
Crawl around the boat on seas
    Waiting for the perfect shock
Worn out spine, hands and knees
Wanting to eat with the group
To throw up vanity on rotten rock
Looking for an entry inside the coop
    This time like a Hawk
    Feathers away in the breeze
    Maggots eating the laying hens
    Then eating the crowing cock
    And you will make it
    With greed across the seas
    Bring your educated disease
    In barrels of tainted stock
Till we all end up running around
    Like chickens on the ground
And our heads still on the chopping block

Absolutely brilliant. I thought the culprit (could be us through others’ eyes) was abundantly clear. What a fantastic, precisely described, beautifully metaphorically , astute assessment of entitlement et al. I would prefer not to summarize such a terrific piece of writing, the second.
