  • Jack of all and Master of One

    Jacqueline Burke
    12/11/26--3/4/15

    "Carry on my wayward Son
there'll be peace when you are done"

Jack of all and Master of One

Jack of all and master of one, family who got things done,
life of the party and tons of fun, passed to eternity, her battle won.

Raised four daughters and two sons.
She walks with the angels and she doesn't have to run,
away from her troubles, warmed by the sun,
the moon is her nightlight, she shines on everyone.

The likeness of the Lord, I see in her face,
when I look at her picture, I'm in a happy place.
She lived her life with courage, dignity and grace,
and now she's with the Lord, and Heaven's a better space.

We can all learn a lesson from the legacy she left.
She taught us to be strong when hope seemed so bereft.
Words are hard to come by describing hurdles she leapt,
her story ends here on earth and now we must accept.

rhymetime Jacqueline is my Mom who passed three years ago yesterday. Happy she is resting now. She did reach out to me after she passed and recited the lyrics to the Kansas tune I quoted above. Some will find hard to believe and that is perfectly fine

I have no problem understanding your mom reaching out to you. I believe we are often reached out to but are often unprepared to receive the message.
            Lovely tribute

My sympathies Bobby - she sounds like a strong woman. This is a great tribute. As a long timer listener to and lover of Kansas' music, I have 'Leftoverature' ready to play whenever we hit the KS border. Also, this song is the ring tone for my son on my phone. Love it!

RhymeLovingWriter thank you Paula. My mom was ready for a “heavenly break”. Yes, the “Kansas Connection” is so apropo for you. Red Slippers are in your closet I’m sure.

This is a beautiful tribute, Bobby! And your mother had good taste in music quotes.
