  • Case of the Gout

    Please leave me out
    Not my parade
    Case of the gout
    Toes disarrayed
    You guys go dance
    I've doffed my pants
    Soak feet—repeat

Great poem! I had a relative with gout apparently that is some painful S***!

Thank you, Rhymeboy! Have you tried your hand at the ha'sonnet? It's a small group of us who occasionally write them and we are always looking for new poets to join us. The rules are fairly simple.

Grant Hayes, a fascinating and incredibly talented Australian poet who collaborated with me to create a new poetic form called the ha’sonnet. Ha’sonnets are essentially half of a sonnet the basic form of which is seven lines of four syllables each with a volta and a climax in the optional rhyme scheme of A,B,A,B,C,C,DD.

Thanks for considering me for your group, MHenry I'm flattered! Ha' Sonnets sound challenging . . . now I'll have to try to write one! Lol!

        This Cursed Form :-)

        For some of us
        the challenge was
        to stop this fuss
        or even pause
        so we could sleep
        and not have bleep
        go pop nonstop

It took me a while, MHenry, to slow down with it, though I never could stop. And, like this today, they do still pop. So, be careful Rhymeboy. :-)

Nice Gout, by the way, MH!

Nice, M1! You should put this in a new post, so we can like it!

I thought about it as a separate comment, but it doesn't stand alone. It was only as a response in your and Rhymeboy's comment thread. Thanks, though.

      That cur-sed ache
      which haunts the joints;
      the toll it takes
      which disappoints
      our hope of fun.
      When said and done...
      big pain - no gain.

      The swelling ache
      The mind recall
      Shall not be quelled
      by Geritol.
Perhaps there's comfort in a swig?
      Maybe then,
      you'll do your jig!

It depends on what you're 'swigging' I think. My Mom always used to say gout was caused by too much beer!

That which temporarily eases the pain,
      often is the cause!
