    End the Madness

What will heal our broken hearts
    another shooting tears us apart
    Can’t make sense these tragedies
mothers and fathers on their knees

    The second amendment perception flawed
    forefathers words true meaning ignored
    Lobbyists peddle for the NRA
    backroom bribes for political sway

Multiple rounds to kill and maim
same old reasoning results the same
Seventeen victims lie dead in the street
when it’s finally hits home, will they retreat?

What will become of the USA?
will common sense rule the day?
We need a hero and we need her now
no more death our solemn vow

Muttado1sb thank you, I was beginning to think I said something wrong. Or maybe I just got swept under the rug by wangpen!

I don’t think you said anything wrong. It’s a rough subject, but I think you handled it well. I’m just way behind in reading all the poems as I like to do. They’re just coming in so fast that poems go down quickly and get overlooked. In trying to play catch-up I don’t get to comment as much as I’d like, but I know I can at least give a like.

    Like Beetlejuice,
    who may again
    be called upon,
    beware to name
    the sleeping sweeper
    Floored by wood,
    restored by fate.

Such horrible killings. How terribly sad. My heart goes out to all the families.

I try to avoid speaking about, what seems to me, pointless yet intenional destruction. I avoid it because I have no thought as to resolution.
Your line "We need a hero and we need her now" (gender referece noted). What would we have a hero do? Is one person's hero another's villain?
          I do not know

great poem. Gave me pause to consider

as always, THANK YOU my friend

            Hi Bobby
            Great words
I see Trumps shameful and irrelevant claims that he would be a hero and I am lost for words. At some point the NRA will go to far in its demands. It is too used to getting its own way. I just hope no more have to die before America can come together.

Ha if only laws were the answer. We’d be living in a drug free society, where everyone wore a seat belt and never drove drunk. How many lives would be saved. They’re be no immigration debate and all the ism’s that lead to hate.

The first school shooting 1999 about the same time Al Gore invented the internet. Where you can find most anything you need to kill people even if it’s illegal, not to mention porn and ever other detriment to society.

So my answer is that quote from the movie Unforgiven . You shot an unarmed man “he should have armed himself”

A frightening situation, one I'm reluctant to comment upon given our own political difficulties here but you have made us pause to consider- if only others would
