    Great Circle

    This South wind,

    cold, but lately turned,

    impatient to be gone,

    scornful of wanting warmth,

    ragging smoke from chimney

tops as tribute flower to carry North,

swayed back where it came from

to smirch the Ice Queen's virgin birth,

    each smutted flake's confetti fall

    draining snow's albedo spell

to set aside the sun's recall.

Don't know how I missed this first time around! Very beautiful phrasing in this observational gem!

Thanks Alex, I always read your poems
but feel them tinged with a sadness
which I find hard to comment
      on with my usual spurious
      bonhomie,
