  • 2 February

    When I woke up
    I looked around
    So far, so good
    nothing unfound

    Got out of bed
    and moved about
    Still looking good
    still without doubt

    Had a short stretch
    washed up and dressed
    then a little
    quiet breakfast

    Put on my coat
    kissed bye my wife
    Readied myself
    to face my life

    Popped out the door
    it was a zoo
    Cameras and lights
    Cheering mob, too

    I blinked and frowned
    glared at the crowd
    Saw what I saw
    and said aloud

    This may not push
    smiles to your cheeks
    There's my shadow
    So, six more weeks

    March 16th
    What happens then?
    Unshadowed,
    will you walk alone.
    No zoo to gather
    outside your home
    but still the wife
    when back you come.

Thank you, Johntee for the poetic question. You got me thinking (though not very hard) and the answer became the poem ‘3 February.’

Thanks, DWAYNE! It’s not a serious day, so why a serious poem. :-)
