  • Death of a Loved One

Written for this challenge from another site:

Write a short love poem. The catch is that the first sentence must have seven words, and the following sentences should countdown until you have only one word for the last sentence. Basically 7 words, then 6, then 5, etc.

    Death of a Loved One

When all is spent, in passion's play,

upon a soul distinct from thine

    how ever will compassion stay

    to soothe the loss

    that comes upon

    a grieving

    heart?

Lovely in form, most importantly in message.

Thank you rhymetime. My folks would have celebrated their 66th anniversary in January if Mom was still alive. That is a lot of time about which to reminisce.

Lovely poem, RLW. Nice tribute for your parents. And another poetry form for you to conquer, like a nonet with two fewer lines.

You're right. I never thought of that! I wonder if this form has a name? Thanks for the compliment and leaving a "like".
