    Aging

    Eyes that gleam, hopeful dreams

    Time is passing, desperate grasping

    Memories soothe, days of youth

Heart still beating, life is fleeting

    Silent love, distant heart

Still life painting, her life waning

This has a very personal feel; perhaps about a relative who you are watching age before you? Perhaps someone who's love has already passed but still holds the sparkle of memories. A lovely reflection, thank you.

For some reason I got a sense of remembering the beauty of quiet winter, after reading this piece. The end two lines seem to have set that tone. Nice. A light touch on some timeless themes, the sure pull of the ending notion, the poem complete but pointing towards incompletion. Waning life... But waxing light! At least in terms of -after-solstice. We do have a choice to age well, and all choice goes into 'that'.

    Thanks for sharing! With love.

Hello AlexandratheLate, The silence of love and a waning life in the art of melancholy poetry. You paint such a tender sorrow with your words and do so, beautifully. Fond regards, Tony.

I got a sense of foreboding from this.

                    The anticipation of impending loss.

                    It made me reflective.
