    SENSUAL ANIMALS

    Sensual animals
Picking at each other’s written fleas
    I am yours, my Playwright
Pluck, paint, and direct how you like
    Still sensual artistic monkeys
Swinging in and out of hollow spaces
    Concrete trees
    Western born, fed and bred
    American cities
Pushed against the fringe of frozen seas

When the ice melts, we are separated
    Sutures unwind
    Showing the wonderfully wounded mind
    I’ll have what their having
    On what sensual animals dine
What their having, for me will be fine
Eat the interpretation of the stumbling blind
O, the rigidity of a line
    Connecting a constellation’s stars
Same as beauty marks resembling scars
    Within the skin
    Along the spine
To tap the stem is a crime
Understand the relativity, we only have so much time

Flowing fermentation that drips from your lips
Void the truth of love, the splintered tongue sips
    You a monkey whore
    Me a monkey mole
Being sensual animals makes us whole
    In the darkness there
    We cut and retool
I was born to be your fool
    Taking breath with breath
Sensual animals, plucking, painting and directing lives
The wobbling head looks upward and strives
    Drunken, Sweet hellos
    Sobered up with sour goodbyes
The spirit gains against the flesh
    We all finally rest
When the sensual animal finally dies

This is one of those poems to be tasted and savored in small bites over and over again. Step up to the buffet and take as much or as little as you like. Awesome TS!
